Flourish 2017

It begins at home, in Church, in communion with God. It's a love we cannot keep to ourselves. A relationship so deep, we can’t help but let our heart overflow into everything, everyone, everywhere.

Speakers

Throughout the day, you’ll hear from powerful speakers, focusing on what it means to live our faith in all that we do and all that we encounter.

John Stemberger

John Stemberger is an AV-rated Orlando attorney who has also been a marriage and family advocate for over 30 years. Stemberger has a unique understanding of law, government, and the media from his extensive political background: he completed internships in both the Florida House and Senate; he has served as a consultant to state, federal, and presidential campaigns, a lobbyist for Florida Right to Life (1989), and a member of the Judicial Nominating Commission for eight years. In addition to the private practice of law, in 2004 Stemberger became the founding President of the Florida Family Policy Council (FFPC). Since starting the FFPC, he served as chairman of the successful campaign to amend Florida’s Constitution to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman, and he also launched Strong Marriages Florida, a campaign to reduce the divorce rate and strengthen marriages across Florida. Most recently, John was one of the primary founders of Trail Life USA, a Christ-centered scouting program for boys. He has been married to his wife Olivia for twenty years and they have four young children Joseph, Benjamin, Hannah and Rachel.

Deacon Ralph Poyo

As founder of New Evangelization Ministries (NEM), Deacon Ralph Poyo seeks to be a useful tool for assisting pastors in training their parish leadership in evangelization. He has traveled extensively around the United States, serving as an evangelist and speaker. He incorporates what he learned and experienced in five years of research in rural, inner-city, and suburban parishes. After almost thirty years of parish ministry, he understands the complexities of various ministry environments.

When Deacon Ralph is not consulting with parishes through NEM, he is a popular national speaker capable of communicating with a wide variety of audiences. His passionate, humorous, and playful style has captivated adult and teen audiences across the country with the truth of the gospel of Christ. His presentation style disarms audiences and speaks directly to the issues that plague our efforts to live the Catholic faith.

Deacon Ralph is married to his high school sweetheart, Susan, and has five daughters, one son-in-law, and two granddaughters.

Rifqa Bary

Rifqa Bary is the author of the New York Times Bestseller, Hiding in the Light. Her story made international headlines in 2009 when she ran away from her Ohio home, claiming that her father, an observant Muslim, had abused and threatened to kill her because of her Christian faith. Bary’s story sparked national debate about the treatment of women and converts within Islam and how they should be protected. Bary has appeared on Fox: Special Edition, Glenn Beck, and the 700 Club. She and her published works have been featured in The Washington Times, CNN, and The Christian Post.

Fr. Shenan Boquet

Father Shenan J. Boquet travels around the world spreading the Gospel of Life as president of Human Life International (HLI). He was ordained in 1993 and is a priest of the Houma-Thibodaux Roman Catholic Diocese in Louisiana where he served before joining HLI in 2011.

Fr. Boquet is a natural teacher who has given hundreds of talks at conferences and in parishes across the United States and in 60 other countries on issues ranging from the dignity of the human person and the nature of marriage to social justice and moral theology.

Fr. Boquet grew up in the small town of Bourg, Louisiana in a devoutly Catholic family. He was very active as a youth in service projects with Catholic Charities and with other groups that ministered to the elderly, the sick, the poor, and marginalized. This active faith grew naturally into a vocation to the priesthood, where the contemplative and sacramental aspects of the Faith complemented and informed the active.

Fr. Boquet has been a guest on several EWTN television programs, EWTN Radio, Catholic Answers Live, Ave Maria Radio, and Vatican Radio. His writings have appeared in numerous publications including LifeSiteNews, LifeNews, Catholic Exchange, CNSNews, Catholic Lane, and Catholic.org.
